To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to CJ. c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ARMOURED CAR BATTERY IN FRAME USED ON STANDARD 40/50 X.4195 X.3619. In making use of the above battery the coachbuilding department have experienced difficulty with the rear cross member which comes through the floorboards, and this difficulty appears insuperable except by altering the cross member. Therefore since the battery as a whole is understood to be a great success in this position, it appears to be worth while making the modifications necessary, so that anybody who wants the battery carried in the frame can use this scheme. "We send herewith N.sch.1301 shewing the reduced dimensions of cross member and modification to the drop forged lug which it will be seen keeps the top of the rear battery support below the floorboards. We suggest that an experimental set should be made, and if there is an experimental car with battery fitted in this position, that the new pieces should be applied to it.
