Bench-test of E.G.A. Le Carbone Brushes. (30/£)

A test of these brushes, similar to the brush tests made in 1923/4 has been carried out. This consists of running intermittently for about 95 hours and running continuously at speeds of 1750 rpm and 2500 rpm for two nights each, and at 3500 rpm for one night, measuring the wear and noting other features.
The brushes ran reasonably quietly and showed no abnormal sparking. The contact surfaces attained a fair polish but no more than is obtainable with Z brushes. The commutator was left in moderately good condition but with slight signs of burning at the trailing.
