MAGNETO FROM 115-EE. LIECHTI.

I am handing you herewith a Watford Magneto which has been returned from Mr Liechti after having replaced same on the above chassis by a Bosch in direct opposition to our wishes.

The complaint in regard to the Magneto originally was, that he could not run for more than 2000 or 3000 miles without practically destroying entirely his platinum points.

Mr Liechti from the start has been strongly prejudiced in favor of the Bosch machine. He never gave us a chance to consider his complaint, but simply took the high handed course of throwing out the Watford machine and returning it to us and demanding credit for same in full, after replacing same with the Bosch.

I would like to have the machine in question tested on the bench with a new Make & Break, which can be taken from any of the Watford Magnetos at your disposal for this purpose, in order to ascertain whether this Magneto has actually got a defect in its winding or Condenser components, which would result in the burning away of the platinums at the extraordinary rate referred to. If we can establish the fact that the platinums do not burn away I propose to take up the issue whole-heartedly with Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}, to whom I have already written some pretty strong memos in this connection.
