Front brake snatch due to variation in the condition of brake linings on F.W.B. axles.

BRAKES. x8430 With reference to R5/M29.4.27 attached. The flexibility in the servo shaft is undoubtedly a great asset in ensuring smooth brake operation. We have however occasionally experienced a species of front brake snatch due to variation in the condition of the linings in service. This has chiefly been confined to the original type of F.W.B. axles where the shoes were not as well protected from foreign matter as they are at present. The simplest method of overcoming the trouble is to clean up the surface of the Ferodo, otherwise the shoes have to be relined.
