x728. To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ROY{Sir Henry Royce}10/MG26.8.29 "LINATEX" CREPE RUBBER Messrs. James Lyne Hancock Ltd have recently placed on the market an improved form of Crepe Rubber, manufactured in the Federated Malay States under a Patented Process, in which all chemical treatment is carried out on the liquid latex as it comes from the tree, and advise: "The only machining which this rubber then receives is that required to convert the coagulated chemically-treated latex into a fine crepe, which is subsequently laminated together to form finished sheets of varying thickness as per sample. The natural properties and "nerve" of the rubber are thereby left unimpaired, a distinctive feature, and the resultant material is therefore of the very highest quality, having properties which, for many applications, make it superior to any other form of rubber. Of these, perhaps those of the greatest interest to you are its exceptional resilience and resistance to ageing and wear, i.e., it does not perish! Because of these features, "LINATEX" Rubber Pads fitted between the body and under-carriage of Railway Coaches, have been adopted as a standard fitment on the Fed. Malay States Railway, and is also being used extensively for this and similar purposes by many Railway and Manufacturing Companies throughout the World. "As "LINATEX" has proved itself so remarkably suited for uses of this kind, we confidently recommend its use wherever it is desirable to damp vibration, noise, e.g., the drumming sounds in Saloon Cars, and also to avoid the chafing of structural members." They will gladly submit further samples or other data if we are interested. I have only these 3 samples. Perhaps you would kindly show them to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} also.
