Further to BY/Cgh{W Clough}11/N.26.7.29, it has been decided that the road springs are to be provided with the lubrication scheme on all "J-2" series cars, and that this work should be done before any cars are despatched. We hand you herewith blueprints:- F.80879 F.80880. showing the grooves and oil holes which are required on both front and rear springs. It will be noted that the lubrication scheme is to be applied to the top four plates only. The grooves and holes can be put in the existing springs without any difficulty, and the Experimental Dept. have carried out this alteration on all their road springs for SS.{S. Smith} chassis. Mr Wormald suggests that the works should get all the assistance possible from RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} in regard to the carrying out of this work. We also send you blueprint of F.80881 giving particulars of the steel plug required for plugging the holes in the ends of the top plates of the road springs. In regard to the leather gaiters, the Enots lubricators should be removed and plugs F.79794 should be used to plug up the holes. The Order Office should arrange for the fittings for the Enots lubricators to be deleted as soon as possible. BY/Cgh.{W Clough} | ||
