B.50 GEARBOXES.

Troubles. (1) Reverse coming out.
(2) 2nd. speed synchro spoilt by drag of other cones.

(1) B.50's own box (now in car) has a large reverse shaft corrected in slant to PD.232.
We ought to try twice this correction. Our aim is that when deliberately pulled slightly out of full engagement it shall not work out under load.
If the double sized correction works, it can be tried on a small shaft in the dyno-box.

(2) B.50's box - now in car. 2nd. synchro works well with other cones missing. To see if cross winding causes the drag, the top and overdrive cones should be rivetted up as on universal box. Oil drag will then still be there but no cross winding.

N.B. Box in car has only 4 teeth in overdrive - must not use full throttle.
