I am pleased to hear the news of Mr. Hives' and your visit to Mr. Mills. It is always the best thing to do in the case of dissatisfaction to go and see what is the matter.

I think your suggestion that Mr. Mills should take the new chassis is an excellent one, and allowing his wife the older and probably quieter, less powerful car. Advise him to have all the weight he can possibly remove, kept off both the body and chassis. This is extremely important in connection with hilly country, and the saving also of the cost of tyres.

As regards altering old cars, I should not recommend this practice, but if we can conscientiously make a good job of bringing a car up to date at a reasonable expense to the owner, I think we ought to do so, if he particularly desires it, because he would probably be able to get something of the sort done by outsiders, which we should object to.

We are very pleased to hear that Mr. Mills is too proud of his R.R. cars to think of parting with them.

In conclusion if we are going to have slightly lower top geared back axle ready shortly, we think it would be quite a good thing to take it to Mr. Mills and try it over his roads. The decision arrived at by him and yourselves would be valuable, because up to the present we have never
