To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X 2677 13.9.33. S.U. PETROL PUMPS - SIDE BY SIDE - ON 3.B.TV. With regard to the pumps becoming noisy just before coming on to the reserve level, starting with 4 galls. of petrol in the tank there was no tendency for the pumps to rattle until very nearly on the reserve level, either when cornering hard or at a standstill. The car was run approx. 10 miles after the commencement of pump rattle with the feed still from main tank. The noise could be stopped by switching on to reserve. The petrol tank was then drained, having 1 1/4 galls left in. Taking into consideration the 10 miles run, and the 1 1/4 galls. left in the tank, goes further to prove that the pumps did not become noisy until on the reserve level.
