TO [Struck through: DY{F R Danby}] FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to [Struck through: Mr] HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} [Stamped: ORIGINAL] RR. E.16. ENGINE MOUNTING. [Handwritten, struck through: Y4114] [Handwritten: X3834] We send you herewith drawing LeC. 2173., shewing the engine mounting bracket arranged for .437 bolts instead of .375 as foreshadowed in our memo. to you accompanying drawing LeC. 2162. We are making this alteration because it appears necessary when the aeroplane manoeuvres under certain assumed conditions in the air. With regard to the engine mounting it is not known yet whether this is suitable entirely for any given installation, and we therefore do not advise making dies for the various stampings required. With regard to fixing the tubes in the drop forged ends of the triangulation these should be brazed and pinned, and the pins should be of the taper variety, passing right through from one side to the other. It should also be arranged that the pins have sufficient sheer area to equal the strength in tension of the tube if possible. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} [Stamped: RECEIVED 25 NOV 1925] | ||
