| 262 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}5/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 29th. June 1938. The Parsons Engineering Co. Ltd., Town Quay Works, SOUTHAMPTON. Dear Sirs, We are in receipt of your letter of the 27th. regarding the rear support feet for Mr.Hall's 30 h.p, Rolls-Royce unit. actually we prepared the drawing SCD.583 to show our recommendations for rear engine feet made up in sheet steel as in the normal way, this engine is supported at the rear by the gear box and the rear feet are not, of course, a standard job. However, if you follow approximately the dimensions of the feet shown in this drawing we think the mounting will be satisfactory, and really they are quite straightforward to make up. The increased length of bolts can be made from normal 5/16 S/N bar although if you have none available we could make some bolts up for the job. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}-Swdll 15/JH 6-5-38 We enclose a copy of the letter we wrote to Mr.Hall regarding the mounting of the engine at the rear end. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
