ON AIR MINISTRY, ADMIRALTY AND WAR OFFICE LISTS Handwritten: 1021 December 4th, 1940. W.A.Robotham Esq., Messrs.Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}, I am in receipt of your letter of the 25th ultimo. I am rather surprised at what you say about the man who makes bodies for Talbots, because my information is that the closed bodies for the small Talbot were made at the Talbot Works in Kensington here, and that the closed bodies for the larger models were Humber shells produced by the Pressed Steel Co., at Cowley and modified at the Talbot Works, Kensington. There was only one other body standardised by Talbots and this was an Allweather made by Abbott of Farnham. Perhaps the Pressed Steel Co. have offered to produce your body, as I cannot think Abbotts are capable of doing so. Believe me, I quite appreciate the importance of producing an occasional body for an experimental chassis and as I am very keen indeed that it should be done by Park Ward & Co., I am out to help all I can.. As we all seem to be agreed that this Company ought to build the body and as I am prepared to undertake that we can and will do so, I hope there is no longer any question of its going elsewhere. On my part, I will gladly undertake to do my best to bring it through in a reasonable time and as you appreciate our difficulties so thoroughly, I know you will realise /Over | ||
