DYNAMO OUTPUT REGULATORS.

I wish to confirm the information I conveyed to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} at the Conference on Tuesday to the effect that we have been pressing the C.A.V. people for improved regulators under two headings :-

(a). The present regulator set to give its maximum safe output, the 'safety' being considered from the point of view of the regulator itself.

(b). A similar regulator of somewhat larger dimensions to give an output to the dynamo of 19 1/2 amperes.

I have arranged for a dozen regulators under heading (a) to be sent to N. by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} inorder that they may fit them to cars in connection with which complaints have been made on dynamo output or conversely battery under-charging.

In addition, we have instructed tools for the larger regulator, and as soon as these become available a batch will be put on bench test, and when they have established their reliability on this test, which will be in the course of a few days, a supply of these will also be sent to N. for use on customers cars where output has been a trouble.

I confirm also that we are in agreement with the use of 48 watt. bulbs instead of 60, and an instruction has been issued to the D.O. to make the 48 watt. bulb our standard. Stocks of existing 60 watt. bulbs are being exchanged against 48. Any 60 watt bulbs in stock at the Depots should be returned to Derby for replacement.
