X5340 To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}15/KT. 8.9.32. With reference to your query as to the amount of end force exerted in the sliding splined joint of the propeller shaft due to the pumping of the back axle, attached is a curve of some preliminary figures we have taken, in which you will observe that for 150 lbs.ft. engine torque, it is probable that the resistance of end movement of the propeller shaft, due to the binding in the splines, will be approx. 400 lbs. We are making further tests but thought you mike like to have this preliminary information. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
