To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X235 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rml/T19.10.26. HYDRAULIC SHOCK DAMPER - WEAR. Owing to trouble we are experiencing with loss occasioned by the fact that the phosphor bronze bushes supporting the lever of the hydraulic shock dampers wear unduly, we should like to try using hardened and ground steel bushes in these positions. We do not know whether hardened bushes will be a production proposition in this position, owing to the fact that alignment will necessarily be very difficult, and they cannot be reamed. However, we should be much obliged if you would go into the matter and let us know your opinion. In any case we should like to have four shock absorbers so fitted up.
