OUR REF AF/HMB Icknield Street BIRMINGHAM·18 13th August 1936 Sole Manufacturers of THE GIRLING UNIVERSAL BRAKE. Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., D E R B Y. Dear Sirs, FOR THE ATTENTION OF MR. MARTINDALE. With reference to the sample Girling Brake assemblies on your front and rear axles which we have just completed, and which should be in your hands by this week-end, we wish to point out that we have had to make a slight modification in the height of stop boss, which gives a slightly less degree of lock, approx. 3º either side. You will also notice that on full lock there is a slight movement of the operating rods. This is due to the disposition of the expander cone pin relative to the centre line of the king pin as shown on our drawing GA/G.549. This movement, however, is not sufficient to cause any pull on the actuating cone, and could, of course, be entirely eliminated by the use of cables instead of rods. Yours faithfully, For NEW-HUDSON LTD. Alex Haxel Works Manager. | ||
