Dunlop Wheels and Tires. Suggest most of this section unnecessary to owner or driver. The American Co. does not propose to confine itself to Dunlop tires and such an addition to the instruction book might cause difficulty with other tire maykers.

With what has gone before on oiling hubs etc., can we not confine "Wheels and Tires" to the few essential notes such as pp.118-122 of American book?

It was decided the other day that tools for dismantling hubs should be deleted.

Klaxon Horn: Propose to supply buzzer horn which requires no attention. Section unnecessary.

Battery: It appears that all necessary instructions on battery have gone before (see earlier notes).

Fuel Gauge: Seems very good and interesting, but does the owner have to do anything about it?

Would it not be better under Chapter VI Fuel Feed and Carburation, simply to tell the owner what to do with the air pump?

Omissions: Suggest that following omissions of things vitally interesting to driver, occur in present book:-

(1) A picture of the Instrument Board with its indications, or perhaps better, a composite drawing of the front compartment as used in "Autocar" descriptions giving all the controls and indications as used and seen by the driver. See p.13 and p.123 American book, but this could be greatly improved by more general treatment as suggested above.

(2) Compact notes on "Cold weather running" to which might be added a section on "Preparation for Cold weather" i.e. thinner oils, tightening fan belt, looking over rubber connections, checking battery, examining automatic shutter for freedom, etc.

(3) Variation of Engine Oil with weather. American book is not up to date in this respect. Repair Dept. should have later bulletin calling for -

RR.xxx in summer - viscosity 75-85 approx.
RR.xx " cold weather " 60-70 "
RR.x " zero weather " 47-60 "
