No.850 K.L.G Sparking Plugs.

Works recently complained of experiencing trouble with these Plugs on account of the fixing nut seizing up, and when extra force is applied, the corners of the nut are somewhat damaged. In response to this complaint the K.L.G Sparking Plug Co. write as follows:-

1. type 850. The gap was .015 - .018, the firing point "in good condition, the internal mica button was badly "sooted and oiled and under our usual pressure test, this "plug failed to spark. The gland nut had definitely "seized in the body, as explained in your letter, because "it had been overtightened."

"We have already dealt with this complaint "with your Service Depot at the Hyde, Hendon, and as far "back as 19th October this matter was gone into very thor-"oughly in our factory. We wrote them again on the 27th "November explaining that the matter had been dealt with "some little time ago, and instructions had been given for "the gland nuts not to be tightened up so much when the "plugs are assembled. The plug you have returned was "manufactured in March 1936, and of course this was before "the instructions had been given in our factory."

"If you have any other plugs giving you the "same trouble, perhaps you will be kind enough to return "them to us for attention. In the circumstances we have "pleasure in sending you one 850 replacing the one returned."

Please say if you have any Plugs for returning, under this heading. Meantime we are handing replacement Plug referred to above, to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst, herewith.
