For the attention of Mr. Frazer.

Dear Sirs,

We enclose a drawing of a front aluminium drum which we would like to use when we first try the new Girling brakes. If the clearance between drum and expander is too small to be a practical job we may later have to modify our drum design, but we do not want to have to make new drums just now.

We have looked into the question of the axle. We may get a little trouble with the cross steering tube fouling the sump when the ends of the axle are swept back by 1". Nevertheless will you please make the axle in this manner, leaving the dowel holes for locating axle on springs undrilled. We doubt if this shape of axle will fit in our jigs for drilling purposes.

We are very anxious to try these new brakes as soon as possible, and we confidently expect that they will be eminently satisfactory.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
