PEREGRINE BODIES.

We had intended to raise this point at yesterday's conference but it was overlooked. We think the question of Peregrine bodies is a very important one.

We ought, as soon as possible, to make up our minds who are going to produce the bodies for the production chassis. We assume that in order to get the complete car at a reasonable price the bodies will have to be ordered in quantities.

The worst feature on the Peregrine car which we are running about are rattles from the body. We all realise how any car can be entirely spoilt by body faults.

We do not think it is necessary to make the body more expensive in order to make it very much more free from rattles.

There is one point we have got to keep in mind, that as we expect to have controllable shock dampers on Peregrine it will be possible to drive this car over bad roads at much higher speeds than we have been used to. This will apply to all cars when the shock absorbers are available.

We are very pleased so far with the Park Ward bodies which have been supplied (in spite of rattles), and should be quite satisfied if it was decided that they were going to supply the bulk orders. If this was arranged I think we could work with them and get a result better than anything we have had previously. It would be a pity if we do all our running and development on Park Ward bodies and then start up from a fresh supply on production.

It might also be worth consideration that the first production Peregrine shall only be sold as complete cars with close coupled saloon bodies, this would go some way to avoid Peregrine cutting into the 20/25 HP.
