1125 To Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/HH. c. to HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/RH.{R. Hollingworth} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/JH.23.1.40. INSTRUCTION OF EXPERIMENTAL UNITS. At regular intervals we are instructing the new Proto-type of chassis. In the future we hope that these instructions will consist of complete L.O.P's for every section on the chassis. Continuously, however, experimental units such as engines, axles, gearboxes or other portions of the car are being instructed. In the past it has been our habbit to rely for a certain extent upon the clerical staff in the shop to marry up our experimental modifications with the previous L.O.P. of the same part. We have this clerical staff no longer, nor do we think that this practice is altogether desireable if it can be avoided. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} is therefore arranging at the Clan Foundry for someone to be engaged on regularising instructions contained in the memo. from the Development Engineer of the Experimental Department. Where the piece in question is a modification to the existing part the drawing will be marked up in ink and given a new piece number, a copy being kept in the drawing office records. This procedure will to a certain extent be a big job, because we have got behind hand on recording experimental modifications, but we shall do the best we can with our limited staff.
