Endurance Test of Goshawk Distributor

This test was run mainly with the object of ascertaining the wear of the bakelite rubbing block on the contact breaker lever, although the behaviour of other parts of the distributor was at the same time observed.

For this purpose the distributor was run on the bench for 334 hours at 700 rpm, the equivalent of 10,000 miles on the road.
Details of the test are as follows:-

Total hours run = 334.
Hours run with sparks gaps running = 290
" " without " " = 44

A make ratio of .5 and a distributor speed of 700 rpm were maintained as near as possible throughout the test.
The cam was kept free from lubrication
