Huckerby}18.12.33 re BENTLEY I.B.IV.- TEST AFTER 10,000 MILES ----------------------------------------- I was only able to give a short test during the time allowed, also the weather and roads were bad (fog) for serious tests, etc. It was difficult to form a conception of the noises as there was a bad growl on retard; suspect axle pinion thrust race gone and should be replaced before further tests are made. Already had similar trouble on B-15-AE (Trials P.W.saloon). Seemed to be soft, sweet engine, free from periods, also 'in the drive', compared with chassis now being turned out. The petrol system entirely failed when starting up after standing. The float feeds ran dry; only by hammering the petrol pump could they be made to work. I should like to try again when the above is O.K. (? Tuesday afternoon). The body is in a bad condition. One side head lamp occasionally fails. I noticed both head lamps were on when dimming. I prefer off-side switched off for 'fog' driving. Slow running erratic - throttles or mechanism sticky. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
