3 the above conditions is reduced by 58%, consequently I think that as soon as it is considered that the construction of the side guards is satisfactory the scheme should commence to be used. I consider some arrangement should be considered whereby the air can escape from the engine without passing under the floorboards. Mr Royce has also suggested that ventilators shall be fitted to allow cool air to enter under the floorboards. This I think could be adopted with advantage as when running at high speeds ther appears to be a certain vacuum formed under the floorboards and air etc is drawn in from the back of the undershield which carries with it the smell of the exhmust, road dirt, etc. E.P.
