To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL MORGANITE GRADE EG2 BRUSHES FOR PHANTOM AND S.S. DYNAMOS We have run these brushes experimentally for some considerable time with general satisfaction but have not attempted to standardise them until a satisfactory 10,000 mile test has been completed with the (relatively) new 28 slot armatures. Such a test has now been completed and attached please find copy of our report PB.37 dealing with the examination of brushes and commutator on a machine which has run for over 10,000 miles on chassis 9-EX. We can now confidently recommend these brushes as a satisfactory alternative standard to the grade Z Le Carbone. 29-H The EG2 Morganite brushes have been standardised as an alternative on the 20 H.P. dynamo for some considerable time and are giving satisfactory results. If R.{Sir Henry Royce} agrees it would be possible at this stage to use this British source of supply entirely. We do not claim that the experiments have shown superiority, but only equally good results. EFC. PD.37 attached. | ||
