To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} r6021. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.2/JH.20.4.36. Support of Batteries in Chassis. We are continually experiencing trouble with batteries due to the method of holding down the same in the battery box. The securing nuts are tightened up too hard causing the containershugs either to bend and crack the sealing bitumen along the edges of the end cells lid{A. J. Lidsey}, or crack the container itself. We wonder whether it is possible to have long tubular distance pieces to prevent the battery nuts being tightened excessively in such a way as to damage the battery. We do feel the matter warrants design attention and maybe slight alteration to the battery container inserts. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. | ||
