EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT.
X3034

Recently we have had a discussion with Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} on the question of more room and increasing staff in order to cope with the extra work connected with the Schneider Trophy, D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} of E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} engines, Compression Ignition and sleeve valve, single cylinder units etc. At the same time we went over the question of whether everyone was pulling their weight in the Experimental Dept.

After doing this I told Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} that I thought the Electrical section was extravagant and unpractical. I would be one of the first to admit that EFC. has remarkable talent in a certain direction, but on his present job in my opinion he retards progress rather than helps it. We have discussed this point with him but it is hopeless.

If I am supposed to be at all responsible for the Electrical section then I say that we ought to cut it down considerably, and improve it.
