Dear Sir,

20-HP. Chassis No.GMK-49.

In reply to your favour of the 5th.inst., we would say that a certain amount of pitting of the platinum points is inevitable, and does not in any way affect the running of the engine, so long as the "pip" which tends to form on the point on the rocker arm is not allowed to reach any appreciable size.

When trimming up the point on the screw it is not necessary to file away sufficient platinum to remove all of the hole formed by the "pip" on the other point.

You do not mention the total mileage this point has run.

With regard to the steering, we are now pleased to be able to inform you that we could fit a modified side steering tube, which is provided with more flexible springs, and a new and improved type of worm and nut to the steering column of your car, and we feel confident that these modifications will be effective in reducing the road reaction transmitted to the steering wheel.

We may mention that the experimental work on these modifications has been proceeding for some time past, and had your letter arrived a few days sooner, we would not have been in a position to make any definite statement.

Will you kindly let us have several days notice before bringing your car to the Works, so that we may have the necessary parts ready to fit, with a minimum of delay after the car arrives.
