MAYTHORN SALOON AND OTHER

We have made a careful comparison between the Maythorn Saloon and the original standard Hooper Limousine fitted to a 20 HP. chassis. You will remember that our impression was, although the car fitted with the Maythorn Saloon felt top-heavy, it was very little worse in this respect than the standard covered bodies which we are fitting.

We have since made comparative tests on the road and find that when the condition with regard to - seating cushions, loads on the road springs, friction in springs and shock absorbers and tyre pressures are the same, it is very difficult to notice any difference in the stability of the car fitted with the Maythorn Saloon compared with the one fitted with the Hooper Limousine.

We found we could improve the feeling of top heaviness by stiffer road springs and increased friction in shock absorbers and more damped cushions.

We attach reports of tests carried out by one of my Assistants showing an analysis of body weights, and comparisons of the centres of gravity.
