8324 HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} From Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.1/MA.7.11.36. You have recently completed two fan drives for us, to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}223 and Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}224, one using a single belt, the other using a twin belt. We have not had a great deal of successwith these, and have discovered that this may be due to the variation in angle of belt when it goes round the pulley. This means that the angles of the pulleys should be as shown on attached marked up blue prints, will you endeavour to alter the angles of the existing pulleys, removing as little metal as possible, if this is not practical will you please make a fresh set of pulleys for each scheme using the correct angles of vee. If you make new pulleys will you please leave sufficient metal on the flanges to enable the pulleys to be turned out for slightly larger belts if required. We should like this as soon as possible, as we have yet to obtain a successful fan drive for 55-EX. before it goes to France. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. | ||
