X.4414P - PETO & RADFORD BATTERIES FOR GOSHAWK

We have now received at the Derby works, by request (although in accordance with arrangements recently made with the battery makers, batteries will normally be delivered to chassis at the Coachbuilders as required) half a dozen P & R batteries of their type T.B.D.7 built specially for Goshawk. These are in addition to the three experimental batteries and Messrs. Peto & Radford have now offered that these three be returned and exchanged, free of charge, for three of the standard type, the three experimental batteries not having the non-crackable Dagenite boxes, and also not having the correct terminals. This exchange will be effected.

Points about the P & R Battery for Goshawk.

(1) Lead of the very greatest possible purity is used.

(2) The plates, after being pasted, are allowed to dry naturally in an ordinary atmosphere for some weeks before the forming process is developed. This is considered to be much superior to the methods of other battery makers, in which the drying is forced.

(3) The plate grids are made with particularly robust outer frame and the grid section is of such a form - triangular bars with their vertices pointing inwards, alternately right and left - that the paste cannot fall out. A very slight reduction of effective paste area thus occurs but it is considered to be negligible in view of the other advantages gained.

(4) Plates are of the thick type, positive .150", negative .125", making for durability and long life.
