TO Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}10/KW. 23.11.35. Re Chassis Conference re Costs. Referring to Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}7/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 21.11.35. in the section on bought out units the minutes read that I said we might go further still to include larger units such as brakes, axles and gearboxes. This is not correct. Furthermore, I do not know of any brakes, axles or gearboxes made out which could possibly be considered applicable to the cars we are at present making. The only bought out items which we did specify as being sufficiently good to fit to the car were clutches and carburetters, mentioned previously, with the proviso that it might be possible to get electrical equipment made up to the required standard.
