- 5 - Electrical Fittings. These, generally, as previously reported, are O.K. The connection to rear lamp has now given out entirely. We are having same replaced in Paris. The electrical cut-out has functioned quite O.K. since trimming up the points, as stated in our previous report. We have accidentally broken one of the porcelain fillers on the accumulator. Rear Road Springs. O.S. spring has got two leaves broken - one and three quarters inch rear of centre bolt. These are Nos. 2 & 5. We are having a new spring fitted in Paris. This spring has run 19,638 miles. General examination underneath the car. Tie rod brackets, diagonal stays and brackets, rear spring main bearing supports, equalising shafts and brackets, bearings on intermediate shafts of servo, frame and cross-tubes - these are all in good condition. The front equalising shaft for front brakes, the suspension <strike>for front brakes,</strike> which is carried by the rear front spring bracket - a fair amount of wear has taken place at this point. Front Brake Drums. These drums are badly scored, actual depth of the score, measured by micrometer, being 0.015". All the adjustments of the brakes have been taken up, and these are being replaced along with the rear whilst the car is at Paris depot. We believe that this excessive wear of the front brakes is due to the fine sand what we have here on the roads, working its way into the drums. G.W.Hancock. [Signature] | ||
