-2- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/R.4.2.38. Whilst on the subject of projects, we think that modifications to facilitate production should be referred to the Technical Department before being manufactured on a large scale experimentally; a recent instance - manufacture of 3 sets of white metal main bearings without shims, in fact, we were in full agreement with pieces being made, but none were instructed officially until a few days ago, which was sometime after 3 complete sets had been made. We believe it is imperative that we should know our experimental costs as we go along, which will help us to ensure that we work somewhere near the budget, and we understand you are hopeful that this will be possible. The question of scrapping parts is always a difficulty, owing to lack of space, but we should like to know when, and how much stuff is being scrapped. Very often this will enable us to bring to the notice of the technical assistant concerned the scrap for which he is responsible. At the present moment we have certain facilities for storing experimental pieces at Shardlow. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
