(7) EXHAUST VALVES.
If I remember rightly Crown (Firth's) was excellent for very severe loads during short periods, but was disappointing with more moderate duty over long periods, and you had to fall back on Silchrome for long life. My own feeling is that even a very small increase in stem diameter might do a lot of good - see Peregrine.

(8) PISTON PINS.
For reasons already given these ought to be slightly increased in dia. to reduce excessive concentration of load in the pistons. We are too near the limits of fracture - i.e. when we get substantial boost.

(9) SUPERCHARGER INTAKE VANES.
I am dead against the overhanging ones (bent after machining). Can these not be on a separate hub, cut from the solid, a cross between spiral bevel and Delaval steam turbine rotor, pushed on the shaft after the main rotor.

(10) In conclusion, a test should at once be made at Derby showing - (1) all we agree is good, (2) what is most urgent, (3) when it will be introduced, and also if possible (4) the cost of scrap to get it in earlier.
