Reference CJ/JS{Mr Johnson's Secretary}3/D27.9.20 from CJ. to Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} and also Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}1/NJ28.9.20, and CJ's blue pencil remarks on same, requesting Hr. to bring this matter up once a week before the Works Committee, this matter was brought up at the conference today and Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} was asked to report. He has reported as follows - "Further to mine Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}10/NJ5.10.20 I am pleased to be "able to report that Jonas Woodhead & Sons Ltd. are "now finishing 18 rear springs of the thin leaf type, "these having successfully passed our test. They "will be collected on Friday next, 15th inst. "Unless further difficulties are met with, Woodheads "will complete a further 50 rear springs of this type "by 29th inst. and a further 80 by the 5th prox. "Woodheads hope that the balance of 92 rear springs "required to complete the Springfield order will be "completed by the 15th prox. from which date we hope "to receive from them regular suplies for our own "output. "It would appear to be necessary that any rear springs "of the thin leaf type which may be required in exchange "for thick leaf springs already delivered on cars from "Derby to U.S.A. should, in the first instance, be taken "out of those which are despatched against Springfield "order No. 1625 and that they be subsequently replaced "by further deliveries from here.
