ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT - Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}

One point which requires investigation is that the distributor governor range on the engine is in each B.60 and B.80 engine tested to 8° flywheel degrees short of the range set by the electrical laboratory on their rig.

(5) with the introduction of the R.R. distributor, the drive has been lengthened compared with the original Delco, with the result that the base of the coupling comes very close to the housing base.

This reduced clearance created a pumping action and oil was pumped up into the distributor and cured by shortening the drive again.

The coupling of the distributor spring drive has insufficient diametrical clearance in the housing and any slight out of line makes it foul the housing.

Also the recessing for the spring ring which locates the leaf springs should be made deeper.

(6) A means should be provided to lock the dynamo pulley nut which works loose, likewise the nuts on the long stud which clamps the dynamo support bracket.

Owing to there being an adjustable top stay at the front and non at the rear, a cornerwise movement is in evidence and consider that there should be a top support stay at the rear as well as the front.

CRANKSHAFT DAMPER.

A separate report is being issued regarding the crankshaft torsional oscillations registered with the wraith type of spring drive. So far as the crankshaft oscillations are concerned the figures with this spring drive arrangement are higher at high speeds than with the harmonic damper, but by the inclusion of the spring drive the crankshaft oscillations cannot get through to the camshaft. This is not an assumed
