CHASSIS 2100E.

LIGHTING DYNAMO & OUTFIT. We have fitted the C.A.V. Dynamo and outfit and a set of Edison batteries. The battery ignition is also wired up in parellel to the Edison cells. This system of wiring is what is being fitted as standard, but of course not with Edison cells.

We had some difficulty with 2100E owing to a faulty dynamo, by which the battery ignition was earthed; the fault was in the armature winding.. A new dynamo was fitted and no trouble occurred.

I am shortly issuing a report on Edison batteries; up to the present they appear to be extremely reliable and their only fault is that the output is low in comparison with the charge.

I understand from the Agents for this battery that the ampere hour efficiency is about 80% and the Watt hour efficiency 60%. They admit that it is low but they point out, and I think quite rightly, that the efficiency is a comparatively small factor if the cell is really reliable and will stand bad usage.

We are making efficiency tests and I will send you the result shortly.
