To Dc. from RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} c. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} +201 REC.4/MS14.1.35. RADIUS ROD TO BENTLEY FRONT AXLE - N.S. 4178. With reference to the above scheme, fitted on S. B. IV, it is found there is insufficient side clearance between the Road Springs and the Radius Rod support Bracket VB. 1507/8, with the result that the Top Spring Leaf fouls the shoulder of the bracket as shown. Will you kindly check the drawing layout, as there should be sufficient clearance at this point to ensure that the spring does not foul if deflected sideways due to the thrust on the axle when cornering.
