| J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} for R.{Sir Henry Royce} With further reference to your note R5/P6714 re leather packings under springs, there is no difficulty about removing them from the front springs, but at the rear they make use of them for levelling up the car, instead of changing the spring centre bracket, i.e. they obtain one height of spring centre bracket and correct by varying the leather packing. They claim this is a great assistance to them and much to be preferred to changing the spring bracket. Since leather under the rear is not so harmful as under the front, would you object to our retaining it here, at any rate for the two Series for which they have spring centre brackets ordered.
