x7960. To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} S/KT. 22. 8. 32. G.L.N.60. Will you please carry out the following modifications to this car. (1) Strip and inspect engine unit. (a) The crankshaft and pistons have done 20219 miles since last being examined. (b) The head with inserted valve seats and the slipper wheel with improved friction disc location have done 3191 miles. Also the nickel gasket. (2) Fit synchromesh gearbox with single point rear engine mounting. (Cast iron gearbox off 19.G.IV.) (3) Fit new type servo lining handed you herewith. (4) Fit a new set of shock absorbers, split piston type. This will require altered mounting on the chassis similar to 'T' series and may require a little scheming. W. Bell has the dampers set at the correct load. (5) Prepare and fit Resonant type silencer to the existing system, i.e. this car has a straight through pipe and sliding joint, and therefore only requires a silencer with swinging links as prepared for Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}'s car, and a P.II size fishtail which we believe is already fitted. (6) Inspect platinum points. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
