4462 INDIA TYRE & RUBBER COMPANY, LTD. TELEPHONES: PAISLEY 4141/5. INCHINNAN SCOTLAND TELEGRAMS: INDIAOWL, RENFREW. OUR REF. PW/HDE. YOUR REF. 9th April, 1935. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, We were pleased to note from your letter of 8th April that you are going to try the 4 ply 6.00/16 India Tyre on one of your experimental cars. We are sending you a drawing which shows the tread pattern of this tyre. This pattern, you will notice, is essentially a ribbed pattern with no pockets where air can be trapped. The shoulders of the tyre are rounded and everything possible has been done to produce a tread that will be silent. However, due to the nature of the design on the low pressure tyre, it is almost impossible to eliminate noise entirely especially when cornering at high speeds. All the reports which we have had from this tyre in service indicate that the design which we have adopted is quite silent and yet a good nonskid and good wearing design. Yours faithfully, INDIA TYRE & RUBBER COMPANY LIMITED. Paul Worth. Works Manager. Property of India Tyre Please return. | ||
