re. 20-HP Clutch Troubles. 62-H-3.
Rothermere.

Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} telephoned us the other day pointing out that the above car had been in with the clutch not working satisfactorily, and on dismantling he reports that the driving shaft from the gear box G50076 was twisted on the splines where it passed/into the clutch hub, also that the clutch hub itself was cracked badly at the bottom of the slots.

We cannot conceive that either of these faults could cause this clutch trouble, but we agreed to him replacing these are returning same to us. They have now been received and we have sent them to you for your inspection and report, as Cricklewood are now pressing us for our remarks and advice as to what account should be charged for this job.

We have no definite evidence of this job, the onely evidence we have is that the clutch was squeaking badly and when dismantled was found to be in this condition by Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} As far as we can ascertain there is no evidence that the clutch has been used differently from the usual service conditions.

The chassis was delivered from our Works on May 14th. 1923 and according to our records the complete car was delivered to the customer about July 17th. 1923.

You may remember the question of the clutch cracking at the bottom of these slots has been taken up on previous occasions, and we understand the matter is having the attention of Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} It has been suggested, however, that we could drill holes in the bottom of these slots to advantage.
