RADIATOR MATRICES. The position with regard to changeovers of matrices on "A" series chassis to prevent overheating as proposed in Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/R.23.4.38, is as follows :- Out of 171 chassis fitted with the original matrix, approximately 70 have been changed to date leaving 100 still to be done. A total stock of about 20 reconditioned matrices is maintained by Repair Depots, the matrices removed from customers cars at changeovers being returned complete with tanks to Marstons who recondition them free of charge, after which they are replaced in the floating stock. The changeovers have been carried out up to the present in cases of complaint only, and have averaged under 2 per week, but Marstons have now promised to recondition the remaining 100 matrices at the rate of 7 per week, and providing that customers cars are available at this rate, the remaining chassis may be dealt with in 14 weeks. The Depot cost to the Company of changing the matrix on each chassis is £3. 12. 0d., therefore, the total cost will be £360. 0. 0d. for the remaining 100 chassis involved. RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/S. Bannister. [Signature] | ||
