Dear Fedden,

We have fixed up the jobs on your car with the exception of the instruments and the lamps. We have no instruments available which are marked more clearly than those you have, and as we are not in a position to recommend any other lamps and horns we would rather that you dealt with these yourself.

The brakes are definitely a problem on this car with cycle type wings. There is no doubt that these amplify brake groans, we have found this on our own car. We have struggled with them, but the cure may not be permanent.

The gearbox rattle has been cured, also the steering wheel wobble. There is now provision for putting considerably more friction in the steering than at present. If the low speed wobble recurs it will be necessary to do this, but we do not want to make the steering any heavier than we need.

We have tightened up the shock absorbers, and with their present setting I really thought the car was a delight to handle.

Unless you urgently require the car we are not proposing to return it until Tuesday or Wednesday next, as we wish to make sure that we have got a permanent improvement for the brake groans.

Yours sincerely,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
