4221 3 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY22/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 27. 6. 24. CHASSIS 62-H-3. CLUTCH. I am sending you herewith a Clutch Plate and First Motion Shaft taken from Lord Rothermere's 20 HP. car. I suggest that we should turn away the keys where they are damaged so as to end the key abruptly where it ceases to fit the keys in the slot of the clutch member, also that we should drill the cracked plates with 1/4" holes at the end of the crack, radius the holes round, and then put the two members in service on an experimental car to see whether they would develop further trouble or whether continuation of the slots downwards along the cracks to depth shown by the maximum crack, would give sufficient cooling distance to prevent the crack being pushed inwards by expansion.
