X4552 We have recently had submitted to us for test purposes a Kismet '31 Tyre Tester. The makers of this accessory are William Turner & Bros. Ltd, Sheffield. (The makers of the much used Kismet Tyre pump). The gage works on the same principle as the latest Schrader gauge with the exception that the spring is in tension in the Kismet gauge whereas in the Schrader it is in compression. It is superior to the Schrader in several ways - (1) It is a much better made job. (2) It is easier to read. (3) It is more convenient to handle (4) It is more accurate. We find that Schrader gauges vary very considerably and are a very rough indication of tyre pressure. We have tried 4 Kismet tyre testers and they all agree exactly throughout their entire range. In addition the Kismet has the advantage that it is cheaper by 8d. and is British made. We are sending Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} a dismantled gauge for his examination as compared with the Schrader.
