zh Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/12 27th July 1 9 4 0. English Steel Corporation, Ltd, Vickers Works, S H E F F I E L D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (For the attention of Mr Gilfillan) Dear Sirs, Thank you for your letter, reference SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}/OMB of the 26th instant. In order to start the necessary machinery in motion to ensure that we get the 500 Barrels which we are proposing to order, we would ask you what delivery date you would be able to give for this number of barrels without the intervention of the Steel Controller, assuming that they are A.1 priority. In other words we want a definite assurance that the Steel Controller has got to stop someone else's supply of gun barrel forgings if we are to get a satisfactory delivery date for the 500 required Once they are convinced that intervention of this type is necessary, the Admiralty will go ahead. Yours sincerely, | ||
