| X300a HOTEL DE FRANCE, CHATEAUROUX. Indre. France. 75- GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/FHR/5/JAB. 18th June 1936. To. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 32. EX. In checking over the engine for the source and curing of oil leaks, a stud hole in the crankcase securing timing case cover was found to be completely stripped being only finger tight. This has been tapped out to 5/16" and a set screw fitted. There is an extensive oil leak which runs down the crankcase from both ends of the vee, and has been traced after the removal of A side distributor tower & re-making the joint, to come from the cam shaft cover joint. The leak appears to come from the edges underneath the wiring tubes and further investigation necessitated the removal of carburetter petrol pipes, wiring tubes, etc., As the car was due to leave for the Paris Depot for attention to the Dynamo, no time was available to effect a cure. ------------- GWH{George W.
