To R.{Sir Henry Royce} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to C.J. STAMP: RECEIVED 9 NOV 1920 HANDWRITTEN: 965, 1920, X1105 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG5.11.20. X.1105 RE PISTONS AND RINGS. HANDWRITTEN: X.2748 We attach hereto Booklet and blue-print from Allen and Simmonds Ltd. of Reading on Pistons and Rings. Their representative called at the works and showed to us samples of pistons fitted with their special rings. He had sample piston which had been fitted to one of our cars with these rings. We believe their spring seal and stop rather resembles the scheme suggested by you. They have offered to supply us with a set of pistons for test. We recommend that we allow them to do this. We feel that anything which can improve the gas-tightness of our pistons is desirable. Our tests go to prove that the leakage we get occurs at the stops. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
